Virtual Machine XPO Gives Industry Exhibitions a Reboot

Industry exhibitions are great for meeting existing and prospective clients as well as raising and maintaining brand visibility.

However, for all their worth, exhibitions can sometimes be expensive and time-consuming – not to mention the energy that goes into planning, travelling and following up.

It was this realisation that led Mark Young, Founder of the Virtual Machine XPO and MD of John Walton Machine Tools, to find a better way of bringing together industry experts.

Trade Fairs Today

“With trade fairs there are occasions where people haven’t turned out in the numbers expected, and exhibitors just stood around waiting for people to talk to.”

“I believe that traditional trade fairs and virtual expos can work really well together”

Mark Young, Virtual Machine Expo

Having spent more than 35 years in the manufacturing industry, Mark joined the trade when he started working with his grandfather, John Walton – the company’s founder.

As one of the few remaining specialists in the Workholding sector, Mark has inherited his grandfather’s sentiment, employing a “big enough to cope, small enough to care” ethos to his business.

Over the years, Mark has attended and exhibited at trades shows around the world.

“I have always had a keen interest in exhibitions. However, we all have to justify the costs of exhibiting and give thoughts about how the outcomes can be quantified.”

The Future of Exhibitions?

Mark was convinced there was a better way to bring people and companies together, a way that would prove to be more cost-effective, more measurable and less hard-work for exhibitors.

“I decided to start looking at the possibilities of a virtual event, but by December 2019 I’d exhausted every avenue. That was until I got talking to fellow Huddersfield Town Club Partner, Neil Worthington (Founder of Worthington Brown).”

The result? Virtual Machine XPO, an industry exhibition that takes place in a virtual setting, with all the benefits of an exhibition and sporting a much lower price tag.
